Description
KETOCONAZOLE 200 MG TABLET is an imidazole antifungal agent which works by inhibiting fungal CYP450 activity, thereby reducing ergosterol biosynthesis and inhibiting the formation of fungal cell membranes and also inhibiting several fungal enzymes. This drug is used for systemic mucosa, chronic resistant mucocutaneous candidiasis, serious resistant gastrointestinal mucosa, chronic resistant vaginal candidiasis, dermatophyte infections of the skin or fingernails (not toenails), mycose prophylaxis in immunosuppressed patients, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis that does not responsive to nystatin and other drugs, systemic mycotic infections (candidiasis, paraxidioidomycosis, cocci dioidomycosis, hypoplasmosis).
General Indications
Systemic mucosa, chronic resistant mucocutaneous candidiasis, seriously resistant gastrointestinal mucosa, chronic resistant vaginal candidiasis, dermatophyte infections of the skin or fingernails (not toenails), mycose prophylaxis in immunosuppressed patients, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis unresponsive to nystatin and other drugs, systemic mycotic infections (candidiasis, paraxidioidomycosis, cocci dioidomycosis, hiptoplasmosis).
Dose
Systemic fungal infections: Adults: 200 mg once daily. If there is no response, it can be increased to 400 mg. Children > 2 years: 3.3-6.6 mg/kg once a day. Crushing Syndrome: Adults and children > 12 years: Initial dose 400-600 mg, can be increased by 200 mg per day. Maintenance dose: 600-800 mg per day (Max. 1200 mg per day). All doses are given in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute or chronic liver disorders. Pregnancy (with Cushing's syndrome) and breastfeeding (oral).
