Miconazole Nitrate Cream 3 Tubes x 10 Grams
Exp : Juli 2022
Miconazole cream is an antifungal medicine used to treat a variety of skin infections caused by fungi such as athlete's foot disease (water fleas), tinea versicolor, ringworm, and other skin fungal infections (candidiasis).
Miconazole cream containing 2% miconazole nitrate. Packed in a 10 gram tube capacity.
Miconazole is an antifungal medication that belongs to the azole group. This medicine is a derivative of imidazole. This medicine is fungistatic against fungus (inhibits growth) but in fungi that are susceptible to this medicine such as the Candida group, this medicine can be fungicide (deadly fungus).
Miconazole works on fungal cell membranes. This medicine will inhibit the biosterynthesis of egosterol in cell membranes resulting in damage to the fungal cell wall. Fungal cell membrane permeability will increase, and ultimately cause the fungal cells to lose cellular nutrients.
Miconazole has broad spectrum antifungal activity which includes many fungi including dermatophytes and yeasts such as Candida albicans, Candida guilliermondii, Candida tropicalis, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Trichophyton rubrum.
Indications and Uses
Miconazole cream can be used to treat the following skin ailments:
Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), tinea cruris (athlete's itch) and tinea pedis (water fleas) caused by Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, or Trichophyton rubrum
Tinea versicolor or tinea versicolor caused by Malassezia furfur or Pityrosporum ovale
Treatment of cutaneous candidiasis caused by Candida albicans
Contraindicated
Miconazole cream should not be used in patients who are known to have:
History of hypersensitivity or allergy to miconazole
History of hypersensitivity or allergy to the components of the medicine
History of hypersensitivity or allergy to other azole medicine
