PHARMACOLOGY
Adapalene is a chemically stable compound with pharmacological activity similar to retinoids. Biochemical and pharmacological profile studies show that Adapalene is a potent modulator of cellular differentiation, keratinization and inflammatory processes where these processes represent important features in the pathology of acne vulgaris. Mechanistically, Adapalene binds to specific Retinoic acid nuclear receptors, but does not bind to cytosolic receptor proteins. Although Adapalene's exact mechanism of action is unknown. Topical adapalene is indicated to normalize follicular epital cell differentiation, thereby reducing microcomedoma formation.
